A Judge ordered the public release of the Fulton County Special Grand Jury’s report on their months-long investigation into Donald Trump and his allies’ efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.
The final report, issued by the Special Grand Jury–a group of everyday citizens–in December 2022 after they heard from over 75 witnesses and examined evidence for more than 6 months, recommends indicting 39 individuals.
A regular Fulton County grand jury ultimately indicted 19 defendants. Individuals not named in the Fulton Grand Jury indictment include Trump attorneys Cleta Mitchell and Lin Wood, U.S. Senators David Perdue, Kelly Loeffler, and Lindsay Graham, and additional fake electors who signed false certificates stating Donald Trump had earned the electoral votes in the state of Georgia, including current Georgia Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones.
While it is not known why the regular grand jury did not indict these individuals, likely reasons includ that the DA’s office could have chosen not to pursue charges for strategic reasons, or may have evaluated the evidence against these individuals and felt what was available was insufficient to obtain convictions against them.
