Criminal Cases Against Trump Face Delays, But Continue

THE VERDICT

4 Fulton Defendants Plead Guilty in Georgia Election Interference Case

Donald Trump is currently facing 91 counts of violating various state and federal laws. Two of these indictments stem from alleged efforts to nullify or invalidate the results of the 2020 election. For those two indictments, he is currently facing 13 counts in state court in Fulton County, Georgia, and 4 counts in federal court in Washington, D.C.

Additionally, Trump has been charged with 34 counts in New York state court, related to hush money payments he made to an adult film star while he was running for office. He is also facing 40 counts in federal court in Florida, stemming from his obstruction of justice and unlawful retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate after he was President.

A Grand Jury of citizens has indicted Donald Trump on 13 criminal counts. The regular grand jury heard from multiple witnesses, including state elections officials, about Donald Trump and his allies’ conduct in trying to overturn the will of the voters and invalidate the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Prior to the August grand jury, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis previously convened a special purpose grand jury to investigate Donald Trump and his allies to determine if they attempted to unlawfully interfere with the results of the 2020 Georgia Presidential Election. The special grand jury, after months of reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses, filed a report recommending charges against multiple individuals, though who they recommended charging and for what is not yet known. Their report was provided to the regular grand jury as part of its consideration evaluating whether or not to indict Donald Trump and his allies.
